Fans have mocked Erik ten Hag after a comment made in the Manchester United boss’ biography.

Ten Hag endured a tough start to life as United manager after losing their first two Premier League matches against Brighton and Brentford.

Despite that, the Dutchman is slowly but surely turning this United team around.

The Red Devils got their hands on their first trophy under Ten Hag when they beat Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.

A top-four finish will for sure wrap up a decent first season for the former Ajax manager.

However, fans have spotted Ten Hag’s comment about Jose Mourinho in his biography.

According to The Athletic, the Dutchman wrote about the tactics of Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.

Ten Hag used a chess reference to explain why many coaches want to adopt Guardiola’s tactics.

He wrote: “When it comes to tactics, we don’t talk about Jose Mourinho, who always plays with black.”

Fans were quick to react to Ten Hag’s words.

One said: “Think Ten Hag and United fans need to be honest about the football we’ve played for quite a bit of this season.”

Another tweeted: “We have the lowest line in the league?”

A third fan added: “Crazy cos you know he’s something of a Mourinho-like coach himself now.”

Someone else wrote: “Is this guy serious? We legit have the lowest backline in the league hahaha.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “Mourinho's football with all the players available that he liked was better than Ten Hag's football with all his players available. Mourinho with injuries of important players to his squad won the UEL, ten Hag on the other hand…”

Ten Hag will now be focused on securing Champions League football for next season, United are currently fourth in the Premier League table, five points ahead of fifth-placed Aston Villa.

United will also have a FA Cup final against Manchester City to look forward to as Ten Hag looks to win his second trophy of the season.
