Qatar have been linked with buying Manchester United from the Glazers

Qatar have identified one surprising change they want to make in Manchester if they manage to buy Manchester United from the Glazer family.

Back in November, it was officially confirmed by the Red Devils owners that the club have been put on sale.

It is expected that the Glazers will start looking at the offers after Friday’s deadline.

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is the chairman of chemicals company Ineos is said to be interested in owning the Old Trafford club.

However, it is believed that Qatar are currently the frontrunners to win the race.

The Middle Eastern country recently hosted the 2022 World Cup whilst Qatar Sports Investments are in charge of French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain.

Now, they are hoping to invest in a Premier League club, with United their number one choice.

According to The Times, they have also identified the need for more five stars hotels in Manchester should they win the race to buy United.

The individuals in charge of the bid to buy United are said to be separate from QSI, which will mean there should be no real obstacle to overcome.

If Qatar do manage to get their hands on United, the Red Devils will become the third state-owned club in England’s top flight after neighbours Manchester City and Newcastle United, who are owned by Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia respectively.

Former England and United defender Gary Neville has stated what he wants from any potential new owners.

He said: “Manchester United and Liverpool, our two biggest clubs in the country are going to be sold in the next few months, it’s huge news.

“You’re fancying Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Dubai, they’ve all been mentioned, and I think to me it comes down to no debt, no dividends, commitment to rebuild the stadium, rebuild the area around the stadium, the training ground. Rebuild the first team - invest heavily in the team.

“Commitment to the fans and making sure that they’re involved and it’s affordable, all of those things are really important, and whoever comes in has to meet that commitment to pledges, the manifesto.”
