David de Gea’s performance against Arsenal from the 17/18 season has resurfaced after his exit from Manchester United was confirmed.

After 12 years as a Red Devil, De Gea’s contract with United expired at the end of June.

Since then, there have been reports that the Spaniard could still make a return to the club.

However, the 32-year-old announced his departure from Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

After the news, highlights of De Gea’s stunning performance against Arsenal from the 17/18 have resurfaced.

On Twitter, the video was posted with a caption that read: “David de Gea vs Arsenal - the best goalkeeper performance you will ever witness.”

De Gea managed 14 saves during that match, which is the most recorded in a Premier League match.

Fans were quick to react to the video.

One said: “That guy was a miracle worker at times, what a legend, what a player.”

Another tweeted: “This was my favourite performance ever. Had me and my old man on the edge of our seats.”

A third fan added: “I’ll never forget this game. Impassable.”

Someone else wrote: “This comp didn’t do justice tbh. Watching the full game in real time had me on my toes. A true legend.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “Remembered it like yesterday, the best goalkeeper performance by far!”

Another fan said: “Hated this game so much while also loving it. Dave deserved an award for this match. Best performance in a United shirt.”

Some of De Gea’s former teammates have all been paying tribute on social media.

Bruno Fernandes wrote: “You deserved to say goodbye to the stadium with all the fans cheering you for all the beautiful memories.”

Whilst Juan Mata said: “Don’t really want to believe it. The amount of times that you saved us… Always professional, always sticking up for the club.

“YOU LOVE, YOUR HOME. You deserve the best. Sad day for Manchester United.”
