18-year-old Manchester City prospect Carlos Borges is a serious talent, his stats are crazy

18-year-old Manchester City prospect Carlos Borges is a serious talent, his stats are crazy

Carlos Borges scored a hat-trick as Manchester City beat Sevilla 5-1 in the UEFA Youth League group stage.

If Southampton are looking for another Manchester City top prospect to snap up then Carlos Borges should be at the top of their list.

The Saints signed FOUR City youngsters in the summer transfer window, paying nearly £40 million to bring in Gavin Bazunu, Romeo Lavia, Sam Edozie and Juan Larios.

Joe Shields, the head of recruitment at the St Mary's club, worked in a similar role in the youth system and so that would explain the additions.

And you suspect Shields will have been watching City's Under 19 side in action in the UEFA Youth League, where they got off to a perfect start with a 5-1 thrashing away at Sevilla.

City had been a goal down through a Diego Hormigo Iturralde strike in the 14th minute but Borges dropped an absolute masterclass.

Borges took home the match-ball and Man of the Match award after netting a hat-trick in the rout. Incredibly, the 18-year-old has 59 goal contributions (32 goals and 27 assists) in 53 games for the youth sides since 2020.

Born in 2004, Borges is a winger blessed with pace and skill who can play on both sides and absolutely loves rinsin full-backs.

He featured 11 times for the club's Premier League 2 title winning team in last season and is quickly becoming one of the most exciting talents around at the Etihad Stadium.

Borges has been at City for eight years and has recovered well from suffering a broken metatarsal prior to the 2020/23 campaign.

Don't be surprised if he gets a first-team debut at some point this season.
