Manchester City fans have been trolled after they produced a rather subdued reaction to their team scoring a goal against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

City fans have often been criticised for their atmosphere at the Etihad Stadium, with some rival fans renaming their home ground as the ‘Emptyhad’ due to the perception that they struggle to sell all their tickets.

And now, another clip has gone viral. The clip was posted on TikTok which showed the fans' reaction to City’s fourth goal during their first Premier League home game of the season against newly promoted Bournemouth.

Though the fans did get off their seats to celebrate, the celebrations were very minimal. You can watch the footage below.

Rival fans were quick to troll City supporters on social media.

One fan said: “Sounds like a golf tournament.”

Another tweeted: “Unbridled passion, joy & excitement..............not, more noise in my local library.”

A third fan added: “Christ!! More of a reaction for a 4 in county cricket!!”

However, one fan did defend the City crowd by saying: “What do you expect when you go 4-0 up against a team with a fraction of your budget?”

However, this will not bother City fans too much as they are the reigning champions of England and after two matches of the new season, they are sitting top of the table with two wins out of two.

Bournemouth were on the back foot from the get go as they struggled to get a touch of the ball under the sun at the Etihad stadium. Scott Parker’s side only managed two shots in the whole of the match.

City strolled to an easy 4-0 victory thanks to goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin de Bruyne, Phil Foden and an own goal by Jefferson Lerma.

After the game, Pep Guardiola stressed that the game was not as easy as the scoreline may have suggested.

He said: “The team did a really good performance against a team that is well structured defensively and offensively as well with good patterns.

“They defend so deep, so narrow, you have to go outside. We started really well with three or four corners after just six or seven minutes, lots of chances. Phil did not see Erling in that position but we were patient.

“It was a warm day. It was not easy for so many reasons but we make a really, really good performance.”

Up next for Guardiola and his side will be a trip to St. James’ Park as they take on Newcastle United.

Eddie Howe’s side are yet to concede a goal after they followed up their 2-0 opening day victory against Nottingham Forest with a 0-0 draw away at the Amex stadium against Brighton.
