Luis Suarez Set To Become Teammates With Giorgio Chiellini And Gareth Bale At Los Angeles FC

Luis Suarez is in line to join MLS side Los Angeles and become teammates with the man he bit, Giorgio Chiellini.

Luis Suarez could become teammates with Giorgio Chiellini, the man whose shoulder he once bit into, with strong rumours linking him to Los Angeles FC.

The former Liverpool and Barcelona striker, now 35, is out of contract after his contract with Atletico Madrid expired.

Suarez has revealed he has had offers from five or six clubs in the MLS and is weighing up his options.

"The market in MLS is very complex. Some clubs want you, but they don’t have the slots, and so it would have to be for January," Suárez told Radio Sport 890.

"Other clubs want you now, but I have to evaluate if they have a chance to qualify for the playoffs.

“I’m not closing the door to anyone and I’ve listened to all the offers. But if some MLS teams don’t qualify for the playoffs, they end their season in the first week of October, and that’s not useful for me because I would stop for a month ahead of the World Cup, which wouldn’t be good for me.”

Taylor Twellman of ESPN is reporting that LAFC are pushing hard for Suarez, who is Uruguay's all-time record goalscorer. It's said that he is "closer than ever" to making the move to the city of Angels.

Suarez would link up with new superstar signing Gareth Bale and Carlos Vela to form arguably the greatest front three in the history of the MLS, but he would also be on the same side as a man who he sunk his teeth into.

Juventus legend Chiellini, 37, has joined LAFC on a free through the Targeted Allocation Money option.

Back in 2014, when Uruguay and Italy met in the World Cup group stage, the pair had a scuffle on the pitch.

And not for the first time, Suarez bit an opponent and left huge bite marks on Chiellini's shoulder. He received a nine-match international ban - as well as a four-month suspension from all football activity - though it was later reduced.

Suarez didn't celebrate Diego Godin's winning goal and thought his move to Barcelona would fall through as a result.

Chiellini, meanwhile, forgave Suarez and wrote that he had "always admired" him in his autobiography.

They were poised to become teammates at Juventus in 2020 but Suarez cheated on his Italian citizenship exam and the transfer was scuppered.
