Robbie Fowler, a player who scored 182 times from 368 appearances for Liverpool, has recently weighed in on the Darwin Nunez transfer, with the Liverpool legend seeing the signing as yet “another masterstroke for Liverpool in the transfer market”.

For weeks now transfer news has been circulating around Nunez joining Liverpool, with the 22 year-old set to be announced as a Red in the next coming days.

The Uruguayan striker is coming off the back of a season where he bagged 34 times from 41 appearances, including 6 times from 10 games in the Champions League for Portuguese giants Benfica.

Liverpool appear to have agreed a €100m deal for the Benfica number 9, with the Merseyside giants wavering off interest from bitter rivals Manchester United in the race to Nunez’s signature.

Fowler has gone on record saying that on Nunez, it “seems like a sensible plan to replace Mane with him,” with the player also more than “likely to be on less than half the wages Mane was asking for,”.

The 47 year-old former England international has gone on to acknowledge that “OF COURSE it’s a gamble” but “if any manager is going to get it out of him, then it’s Klopp. You’ve seen him do it with Salah and Mane, definitely with Lewandowski at Dortmund.”

Whatever happens next season, everybody will surely have one eye on Nunez’s performances, with fans across the world eager to see if the €100m man will live up to the price tag.
