Borussia Dortmund superstar Jude Bellingham will choose to sign for Manchester City over Liverpool, according to former England international Gabriel Agbonlahor.

The 19-year-old has already established himself as one of the most dominant midfielders in world football, and is reportedly admired by a score of Europe’s best.

Liverpool have made Bellingham their top transfer target heading into the new year, according to the Athletic.

However, Agbonlahor believes that the England international is likely to opt to play under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, rather than sign for the Reds.

Speaking on Talksport, Agbonlahor said: “Don’t you think City will be like; ‘We’ll have him’?

“He’s going to choose City over Liverpool, isn’t he?”

Bellingham is the complete midfielder: tenacious and disciplined off the ball, creative and expressive on it, while this season he’s added goals to his game.

The Birmingham-born youngster has already netted eight times from midfield this term, while he's captained Dortmund on a number of occasions.

Guardiola admitted he is one of Bellingham’s many admirer’s before Manchester City’s Champions League tie against Dortmund on Tuesday.

The City manager said: "The quality, everybody knows it. The whole package is really good

"He was 17 when he arrived [at Dortmund] but it was not just about his quality, [it was] how he was leading, his kicking, going to the referee.

"This guy was something special in terms of his mentality. Now he is 19 and he is already one of the captains."

Dortmund are reportedly looking to offer Bellingham an improved deal in the coming months, despite the England man’s contract not expiring until June 2025.

Guardiola added that the German club had been the ideal place for the midfielder to develop his game.

He said: "I think Borussia Dortmund is the perfect place for young talent to come.

"Maybe if Jude Bellingham was in England he would go to City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal or Tottenham, maybe he would not get the minutes.

"The best thing for a young player to be better is to play minutes."
