Liverpool are preparing a £70million bid for Real Madrid’s Aurelian Tchouameni, according to a fresh report.

While the Reds have endured a disappointing season this term, they have had a major impact on teams at the top of the table.

Their stunning 7-0 demolition of rivals Manchester United last month abruptly ended Erik ten Hag’s men’s slim title hopes, while the Reds’ 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Sunday could have a major impact on the Gunners’ hopes of claiming a first Premier League in 19 years.

However, Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that the Merseyside club can become competitors at the Premier League summit next term, rather than disruptors.

With the Reds languishing in eighth in the Premier League, some 12 points adrift of the Champions League spots, the club have been tipped for a major summer rebuild.

The midfield in particular is a position that needs addressing in the summer transfer window, with the club having been linked to Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Chelsea duo Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher.

A fresh report has also claimed the Anfield club will make a bid to sign Tchouameni, only a year after the France international rejected the Reds to move to Real Madrid.

Liverpool to bid for Tchouameni?

El Nacional has claimed Liverpool are preparing a £70million offer to sign Tchouameni from Los Blancos.

The 23-year-old has impressed at the base of Real’s midfield this term, while England fans will remember the midfielder from his long-distanced strike in last year's World Cup quarter-final win over the Three Lions.

However, the Spanish publication has claimed that while Tchouameni has been “slower than expected” in adapting to life in Madrid, he is highly thought of by the club’s hierarchy, who may be unwilling to let him go.

It promises to be a costly midfield rebuild for Liverpool, and Klopp has insisted that the club will spend money in the summer window.

Asked in a press conference if he could see the club being prepared to spend big money to land a player, Klopp said: “I will not answer the question because we never speak about these kind of things.

“We will spend in the summer, that’s what I can say, definitely. For who and how many and stuff like this, there is nothing to say about that really.

“It’s clear after a specific amount of time that you need to shuffle things and kind of start anew. That is completely normal.

“It’s just rare nowadays that it happens with the same manager because people realise when you sack a manager and bring in a new manager, things change and you readjust the squad.

“After seven years it was clear that we have to do it. There is a moment when you have to make changes. We are not where we want to be, where we should be and where we have to be.”
