Liverpool will reportedly send scouts to watch Ghana star Mohammed Kudus at the World Cup after the midfielder audaciously claimed he is “better than Neymar”.

Liverpool, have been linked with the likes of Konrad Laimer and Jude Bellingham in recent weeks as Jurgen Klopp attempts to freshen up his midfield.

The Reds are languishing in sixth place in the Premier League, some seven points off the Champions League spots. Klopp’s side are in desperate need of January reinforcements if they are to secure elite European football next season.

The latest player to be tipped for a move to Anfield is Ajax and Ghana midfielder, Kudus.

Kudus has been a star of Ajax’s midfield this term, having netted five times in 14 games in the Eredivisie and a further four times in the Champions League.

Indeed one of the goals came in a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield back in September.

The report claims that Klopp has been “keeping an eye” on the player ever since.

“Neymar is not better than me”

Emerging superstar Kudus, who is still only 22 years old, had a spicy exchange with Neymar in September when Brazil beat Ghana in a friendly in Le Havre.

Afterwards, the talented Ghanaian told the Guardian: “He’s not better than me. He’s just a higher-profile player, that’s all.

“He was defending his country and I was defending mine. I wasn’t about to let him push me around.

“What makes him better, for now, is that he has achieved a lot. I’ll get there soon.”

Depending on how things finish in Group G and H the pair could meet again in the last 16 of the World Cup.

Kudus added: “We could meet again, yeah? Me and Neymar, part two. I’m sure he would enjoy it.”
