Peter Drury has been praised by many Liverpool fans for his commentary during Liverpool’s crunch match against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

It is well-documented that Drury is one of the most popular commentators among football fans as his poetic commentary has touched the hearts of many people in the past few years.

On Sunday, he was at his best once again as he expertly described Salah’s wonderful winning goal against City. You can watch the footage below.

Drury said: “Alisson fires it forward... and Mo Salah's away! And Mo Salah scores! In front of an exploding Kop! This is Anfield!”

As expected, Liverpool fans were delighted as they showed their appreciation on social media.

One fan said: “Peter Drury makes every goal sound so much better. Such a shame he’s not used more on UK coverages.”

Another tweeted: “I could listen to Peter Drury all day long. Easily the best commentator.”

A third fan added: “He makes the hairs on the back of the neck stand up. Can’t believe Sky won’t snap him up.”

It was another eventful encounter between two sides that have been going toe to toe in the last few seasons but Liverpool found their best form despite their poor start to the campaign.

After the match, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp praised his side’s performance.

He said on Sky Sports: “Result, perfect; performance, really, really good in an incredibly intense game.

“We defended at an incredibly high level for 99 minutes and had really good footballing moments. We scored one goal and could have scored more.

“They had their moments as well but, especially in the box, we did extremely well. We won nearly all the duels. I think there was one free header from Haaland. We showed up today and that's what we wanted to do.”

The victory moved Liverpool up to eighth place in the Premier League table and Klopp will be hoping his team can carry this momentum forward as they face West Ham on Wednesday before taking on Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

However, Klopp and many Liverpool fans will be sweating over Diogo Jota’s injury after the winger was stretchered off in stoppage time.
