Liverpool star sends positive injury update to Reds fans, Klopp desperately needs him back

Liverpool fans will be delighted.

Liverpool star Luis Diaz has sent a positive injury update to Liverpool fans.

The Colombian international has spent the last four months sidelined with a knee injury picked up in the Reds' 3-2 October defeat to Arsenal.

During his subsequent rehabilitation, Diaz suffered a setback and ultimately required surgery.

However, the winger recently returned to light training and could be in contention for the the Merseyside club's visit to the Santiago Bernabeu on March 15 when Liverpool will be taking on Real Madrid in the second leg of a heavyweight last-16 Champions League tie.

Liverpool have been in dire form in Diaz’s absence. They are currently sitting tenth in the Premier League, 11 points adrift of the top four. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s side are yet to taste victory in the Premier League in 2023.

The Anfield club’s last top-flight win came against Leicester on December 30.

Diaz sends a message to Liverpool faithful

Diaz sent a positive message to Liverpool fans regarding his recovery.

Speaking to Sky Sports the 26-year-old winger said: “I hope to be back soon.

“Let’s wait a little just to see when I can come back to the pitch and if it’s at the Bernabeu, it will be no worries.”

While Liverpool have been hit by a string of injuries this term, Diaz in particular has been a massive loss for the Reds.

Indeed, Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez admitted that the Colombian is “fundamental” to Klopp’s plans.

In response to Nunez’s comments, Diaz said via the Express: “I saw what Darwin said and, yes, it’s important to be back, but it’s not only me.

“The idea is to be back and help the team with all my friends and the players that play on the team. I want to be back and to have a good second part of the season.”
