Anfield has been voted as the stadium with the best atmosphere in the Premier League for the second year running according to fans from opposing clubs.

The results, as part of Sky Bet’s Fan Hope Survey, saw the red side of Liverpool accrue over a quarter of the total vote (27%), a whole 11% more than their closest rivals in the shape of Newcastle United’s St James’ Park.

Premier fans from all twenty teams were asked to vote for the best atmosphere and weren’t allowed to select their own team. This was just one of many questions included in the Fan Hope Survey.

Hearing the ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ anthem before every game will undoubtedly have played a part with many players in the past rating it as the toughest game they’ve faced, including former Man United defender Gary Neville.

Finishing as runners-up behind Anfield, was Newcastle’s St James’ Park according to the surveyed supporters. The Magpies incredible season, which saw them qualify for Europe for the first time since the 2012/13 season, will likely have had an impact in getting St James’ Park rocking.

Man United finished in third with 10% of the vote from supporters suggesting that Old Trafford was the best in the Premier League for atmosphere.

On the flip side to this, West Ham was voted as having the worst atmosphere in the Premier League. 13% of fans agreed that the London Stadium was one to avoid if you’re looking for a good atmosphere. The Hammers take the unwanted crown from Arsenal who were voted as the worst atmosphere in the Premier League last season.

Whilst the Gunners’ position amongst fans has improved, they still sit in third place for having the worst atmosphere in the league.

It seemed that a title charge from the North London team meant the fans at the Emirates backed their team and created more of an atmosphere to try and get their team over the line but not enough to impress Premier League fans.

Whilst we’ve all heard about Luton’s famous away stand, Premier League fans are unconvinced that Kenilworth Road next season will be a cauldron of noise as 10% voted it the second worst atmosphere in the Premier League.
