Moments after he was sacked by local rivals Everton, thousands of Liverpool fans inside Anfield sang Rafael Benitez's name during their Premier League clash against Brentford.
The Toffees confirmed the departure of Benitez as first team manager on Sunday afternoon following their humiliating 2-1 defeat to struggling Norwich City.
Having won just once in the league since September, the news will come as no surprise to many as Everton currently sit six points above the relegation zone in 16th place.

Duncan Ferguson and Leighton Baines will now take charge of the club on an interim basis, according to reports.
Thoughts on Benitez's departure? Who do you think should take over at Goodison Park?
Hope Duncan Ferguson gets the Everton manager job til the end of the season.

Everton need unity. Bring the fanbase together. Instill confidence and fight.
Now isn't the time for Rooney. No chance Lampard. Options can be carefully assessed, start afresh next season. π΅ pic.twitter.com/0TUfqn8rLq
