Klopp handed major injury boost ahead of Wolves clash, it could change their season

Good news for the Reds.

Liverpool have been handed a major injury boost after manager Jurgen Klopp provided a positive update on forward Diogo Jota's return to fitness.

Ahead of their game on Saturday against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Klopp was hopeful of Jota's return soon.

The Portuguese international has been out since October after he suffered a calf injury in the Reds' 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at Anfield.

Liverpool's woes have continued since then so the potential return of key players is needed if they are to turn their season around.

In his pre-match press conference, Klopp said: "The boys are training, Diogo Jota had a full session with the team this week but then the next day had again a rehab session, not because of the session the day before, it was just part of the plan. I think he will be back in normal training next week."

Klopp's problems solved

Liverpool's drop in form this season has been big. For the past few years, fans have been used to seeing the Reds battle it out at the top of the table alongside City, but right now they are 10th.

With big departures in the summer, and the inability to keep up with the big spenders around them, it was inevitable that a drop off would eventually come.

Injuries haven't helped and Jota's impending return to normal training alongside the improvement in recovery from star defender Virgil van Dijk could solve Klopp's problems.

The Dutchman will not be fit for the Wolves game though and the Reds will have to make do with a centre-back partnership of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez, with Ibrahima Konate also sidelined.

Wolves will see this as an opportunity to take points off a wounded Liverpool and move further away from relegation trouble.

Both sides have a huge amount to prove which should make it a fascinating contest at Molineux.
