Things go from bad to worse for Liverpool as they suffer 'shocking' 3-0 defeat to Brighton

Jurgen Klopp's side are now winless in their last three competitive games.

Liverpool are currently winless in their last three competitive games after they suffered an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Brighton at the Amex.

The Reds, who currently sit 16 points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal in eighth, struggled to build any momentum in Saturday's clash against Roberto De Zerbi's side.

And after a poor first-half showing, Brighton took a deserved lead through Solly March after a clumsy piece of play from defender Joel Matip.

Then, just eight minutes into the second period, highly-rated teenager Evan Ferguson handed March his brace in a wonderful move as Jurgen Klopp looked on in disbelief.

Things went from bad to worse for the away side, who look a completely different outfit to the team that challenged for a quadruple last season.

Former Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck rubbed salt into the wounds with ten minutes remaining, lobbing the ball over Joe Gomez before finishing with ease.

Oh, and Solly March grabbed the assist. What has happened to this Liverpool team?

As a result of Saturday's clash, Brighton have overtaken Jurgen Klopp's side in the league and move into seventh, two points ahead of the Reds.

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the result.

One said: "Nothing shocking about this result - Brighton are simply a better team than Liverpool. And that won’t change without further signings and players coming back from injury because Klopp just isn’t mitigating for the fact his current options can’t do what he’s asking them to."

A second wrote: "Game finishes with Liverpool having 38% possession and 2 shots on target."

A third commented: "The Reds' season sinks to a new low as they're outclassed and outfought by Brighton. Something needs to change urgently. Never before under Jurgen Klopp have I seen a Liverpool team so out of ideas. Worrying."

Thoughts on Liverpool's form of late? What can they do to turn their fortunes around?
