Liverpool's latest stadium expansion is on track to be completed in time for the start of next season.

New images have been released which show what Anfield will look like when its latest expansion is completed for the 2023-24 season.

Liverpool are currently redeveloping their iconic stadium by rebuilding its Anfield Road stand, situated at the opposite end of the pitch to The Kop.

The £80m expansion, which is on course to be completed for the start of the next season, is set to add an extra 7,000 seats to Anfield – taking the stadium's overall capacity to 61,000.

It is the second major redevelopment of the stadium in recent years, following the construction of the new Main Stand which was finished in 2017.

With less than a year away from the project being completed, new images have been released via 3D Digital Venue which show what the stadium will look like next season.

Liverpool fans have reacted positively to the images, with one supporter on Twitter posting: "This looks beautiful."

Another added: "What a stadium that's going to be."

While a third wrote: "Looks awesome."

Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan has said the club would consider selling naming rights for the Anfield Road stand if a suitable offer was made.

"It's certainly something that we will consider," Hogan told The Athletic in July.

"We didn't for the Main Stand; we may for Anfield Road. We wouldn't say no to it, but it's not something we're actively pursuing currently."

Even after its expansion, Anfield will still have a smaller capacity than several other stadiums in the Premier League including Old Trafford and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sam Kennedy, CEO of Liverpool's owners - Fenway Sports Group, has hinted there could be further redevelopment of Anfield in the future, although he admitted it may be difficult to increase the capacity of the stadium due to its close proximity to nearby houses.

"We'll see what ancillary development might be possible," Kennedy said.

"As residential as Fenway is, Fenway is zoned for entertainment, hospitality, retail and other types of activities.

“Anfield is a residential neighbourhood so we have to be mindful of that and respectful of that. You'll probably see us focus more inside than outside in the future."
