Lisandro Martinez delighted Manchester United fans by staying late after the match against Barcelona to sign autographs.

On Thursday night, United produced yet another spirited performance as they came from a goal down to beat Barcelona 2-1 in the Europa League playoff.

Robert Lewandowski's penalty gave Barca the lead in the 18th minute. But Fred and Antony scored in the second half to seal United’s place in the last 16.

After the match, a video posted by a fan captured defender Martinez signing autographs in the rain, almost two hours after the final whistle. You can watch the footage below.

Despite the time being close to midnight, the Argentine was happy to sign autographs and take pictures with fans waiting outside Old Trafford.

Fans were quick to praise Martinez on social media.

One said: “What a great guy he is, he was the same with my young fella after the Bournemouth game.”

Another tweeted: “This is why we all love him??? He just gets it, big time.”

A third fan added: “Not been there for a season and already he's a club legend!”

Someone else wrote: “He takes the time to go to every fan. Top guy.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “What a legend! Showing super respect for his fans.”

Since joining from Ajax in the summer, Martinez has quickly won over the hearts of the United fans through his ability and his undoubted passion for the club.

After the match, manager Erik ten Hag stated he is now fully focused on Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.

When asked about the Europa League draw, Ten Hag said: “It doesn’t matter for me.

“I’m focused on Newcastle now. Doesn’t matter who will come, we have to beat them all, we know that. We’ll respect every opponent but if we are well prepared and have a strong belief we can do it.”

United will look to end a six-year trophy drought on Sunday as they take on Newcastle United at Wembley.
