Diego Simeone Made Sure Everyone Knows Atletico Madrid Have Cojones

Diego Simeone is a manager who loves to wear his heart on his sleeve for Atletico Madrid and when his team beat Real Madrid on Wednesday night he made sure everyone knew how happy he was at the result.

There's no doubt that Diego Simeone has done an excellent job with Atletico Madrid. The Argentinian manager has won La Liga with them, in an era dominated by Barcelona and Real Madrid, and taken his side to two Champions League finals, against the odds.

Once again the odds were stacked against Simeone and his side in Europe's elite competition as they faced Juventus in the last 16, with the first leg at home.

With the Old Lady having an excellent home record and Cristiano Ronaldo in their team the Spanish side knew they couldn't afford to lose at the Wanda Metropolitano, where the final will be held in May.

Atleti were awarded a first half penalty, correctly changed to a free kick by VAR, and were unlucky not to take a second half lead when Alvaro Morata had a header ruled out by the video ref.

However they did win the game thanks to goals from their two centre backs, Jose Jimenez and Diego Godin, and Simeone made sure everyone knew that they've got the testicular fortitude to go far:

Atletico's brilliant defensive record will now make them favourites to go through against the side that many were tipping to finally break their barren spell in the competition, stretching back to 1996.

In 414 games under the former Inter midfielder the side have kept 218 clean sheets and only conceded 297 goals, which is an incredible record.

If Atleti can show the kind of cojones that Diego did when they visit the Allianz Stadium in a few weeks then they'll surely be into the quarter finals once more.

Can El Cholo get Atleti to another final, this time at their home ground?
