Who's the best player you've ever seen?

Diego Maradona is one of the first names that pops into every conversation about who the greatest player ever is. The Argentinian legend has thrown a name into the ring that most people love but probably wouldn't name as the greatest ever.

For years most of the conversation about who the greatest footballer of all time is centred around two men, Brazil's Pele or Argentina's Diego Maradona. But the argument about the two men seems outdated now.

Of course nowadays as well as the two legends of the game we can easily throw Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in to the mix, even if that means kicking off a whole discussion with their annoying fanboys.

There's a whole slew of other players that you might be able to make a case for as well, the likes of Alfredo Di Stéfano, George Best, Zinedine Zidane, Franz Beckenbauer, Johan Cruyff et al are often brought up too.

So who does one of the men in the initial conversation think is 'the best player I ever saw?' Diego Maradona answered that question in a Facebook post about Francesco Totti at the weekend.

The former World Cup winner posted a picture of the AS Roma captain saying, "Francesco Totti is the king of Rome! He is and will be the best player I ever saw! #Respect".

Totti has been a one club man up to this point in his career but that is being put under scrutiny as the Roma legends contract at the Stadio Olimpico is coming to an end and the club have confirmed he won't be offered a new one.

The Italian is yet to decide whether that means retiring as a one club man or trying to find another team to play for before calling time on his career.

Totti will make his final appearance for Roma at home against Genoa on Sunday, it's sure to be an emotional one.
