Lionel Messi names the best goalkeeping performance he's ever seen

It's a surprise name.

Lionel Messi has sensationally named the best goalkeeping performance he has ever seen.

The Argentine recently completed a move to the MLS, linking up with David Beckham’s franchise Inter Miami.

He was rumoured to be returning to boyhood club Barcelona but due to financial constraints, they were unable to sign him and the 36-year-old opted to move stateside.

The World Cup winner has featured in many huge games throughout his glittering career and faced many top-quality goalkeepers during that time.

But back in 2015, he revealed the best goalkeeping performance he had ever seen.

As reported in The Star, Messi has seen nothing better than former Celtic man Fraser Forster’s performance against Barcelona in 2012.

When asked, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner said: “The performances of Fraser Forster against us were talked about for a long time.

"There was one game in Scotland where he was not human, it is the best goalkeeping performance I have seen."

Celtic dramatically defeated a Barcelona side that included Xavi, Iniesta and Messi 2-1 at home in the Champions League group stages.

They were defeated in the fixture at the Nou Camp, but still went on to qualify for the knockout stages.

Forster now plays for Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, but after his spell at Celtic a move to the Catalan giants was rumoured.

He added: “When Victor Valdes said he was leaving we even talked about him playing here. I was sure he would end up at Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United."

Forster may not have gone on to have the glittering career Messi thought he would, but he featured multiple times for England and was a Premier League regular.

He’s only managed 14 games for Spurs since joining last summer.

He’ll need to move away for more regular game time, maybe a move to the MLS to link up with long-term admirer Messi could happen.
