Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior is being investigated for a major breach of FIFA's Code of Ethics, and he could face a career-defining two-year ban.

There can be no doubt that in recent years, Vinicius Jr has established himself as one of the best football players in the world, regularly putting in elite performances for Real Madrid.

Since joining the La Liga giants from Brazilian club Flamengo in 2018, the winger has an incredible 14 trophies, including lifting the Champions League twice and winning three La Liga titles.

However, Real Madrid may have to brace themselves for the possibility of life without the Brazilian forward, as he is reportedly under investigation for breaching a FIFA rule that could see him being handed a two-year ban.

Across all competitions this season, Vinicius has scored an incredible 21 goals and provided 15 assists in 47 matches, proving himself as an invaluable part of Carlo Ancelotti's attacking lineup.

With his contract set to expire in 2027 and Vinicius currently valued by transfermarkt at an eye-watering $200million (£150.12m), Real will no doubt be looking at extending his current deal in the near future.

But, with a report from Gianluca Di Marzio revealing that the 24-year-old is facing a ban of up to two years requested for violation of FIFA Code of Ethics.

This is because Vinicius Jr is currently facing a complaint accusing him of being involved in acquisition of some professional football clubs through the company ALL Agenciamento Esportivo, which is managed by his father and his agent.

The complaint was filed Brazilian club Tiberis Holding do Brasil who have asked FIFA Ethics Committee's Investigatory Chamber to hand Vinicius a ban of up to two years.

They decided to raise this complaint after Brazilian side Athletic Club of São João del Rei, a club that Tiberis held a 16.5% stake in, were promoted to Serie B.

Following the promotion, Tiveris owner Willy Francese planned to exercise his right of first refusal to buy the majority of Athletic Club.

However, the shares were actually sold directly to ALL, the company linked to Vinicius, leading to the commercial court of Sao Paulo suspending the deal to investigate.

But while investigations are underway, ALL took operational control of the club, infuriating Tiberis.

According to Tiberis, this breaches Article 20 of the FIFA Code of Ethics and Article 22 of the Spanish Federation's Code of Sports Justice which both prohibit active footballers from owning, directly or indirectly, professional football clubs.
