Why Taylor Swift is forcing Real Madrid to move a La Liga game at the Santiago Bernabeu

Why Taylor Swift is forcing Real Madrid to move a La Liga game at the Santiago Bernabeu

It's a weird story.

Real Madrid might have to switch the final game of their La Liga season because of international superstar Taylor Swift.

Los Blancos are at the top of the Spanish top flight and are in pole position to reclaim the title from fierce rivals Barcelona.

Carlo Ancelotti's men are five points clear at the summit of La Liga, with a game in hand over their El Clasico rivals after Barca thrashed Getafe 4-0 yesterday,

Real are in action this evening at the Santiago Bernabeu against Sevilla, where a victory would see them extend their advantage at the summit to eight points with 12 games of the season remaining.

It will also be the first time former Real defender Sergio Ramos has played at the Santiago Bernabeu since 2020, and it will prove to be an emotional experience for the veteran who had tremendous success in the Spanish capital.

Speaking to La Liga, he said: "I have a lot of respect for all the fans and all of Madrid. It will make me feel like I am at home.

"In the end I spent many years there in the most important moments of my career. And I have wonderful memories of the people, the fans, everyone, my team-mates.

"I think it will also be a unique moment for me, a very emotional moment."

Looking ahead to the end of the season in May, Real have asked to move their final game of the campaign and for one very good reason - billionaire artist Swift's latest tour.

According to The Athletic, Ancelotti's side has asked La Liga to move their game against Real Betis from its current date of Sunday, May 24.

This is because Swift's current Eras tour is due to come to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer and the request has been made in order to give more time to prepare for the concert, which will take place on Saturday, May 30.

This request has also been made with the prospect of a second concert date being arranged, owing to the interest received from fans in the 34-year-old singer.

It will no doubt be of interest to Betis, too, with the Seville-based side in the mix for European qualification.

Fans of both teams and Swifties too will be keeping their eyes peeled to see what transpires in the weeks and months to come.
