Real Madrid want to sign Jude Bellingham's England teammate after being impressed by Euro 2024 performances

The England player has been a standout performer this tournament.

Real Madrid are looking to fight for the signature of Marc Guehi, amid interest from several top Premier League clubs.

Despite progressing to the quarterfinals with an extra time win over Slovakia on Sunday, England have failed to impress during the 2024 European Championships.

The majority of England’s problems have come up front, with only Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane scoring for the Three Lions across the four matches.

Defensively however, England have been more impressive, keeping two clean sheets and conceding just two goals in the tournament so far.

And central to this success, has been Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who has reportedly attracted interest from both Real Madrid and Arsenal.

Guehi has played every single minute of the Euros so far for Gareth Southgate’s team and has arguably been England’s best player at the tournament.

And his performances have attracted the interest of Europe’s elite, with Spanish champions Madrid reportedly leading the line to pry the 23-year-old away from Palace and reunite him with England teammate Bellingham.

According to The Sun, Barcelona, Juventus and London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also considering making a move for the centre-back.

But striking a deal may yet prove to be difficult, as Palace manager Oliver Glasner has spoken out about his hopes to keep Guehi at the club this summer.

Speaking in May, he said: “I'm always optimistic as all these players have contracts with Crystal Palace. It’s May and many situations can change.

“Nothing is 100 per cent but he’s under contract, he [Guehi] is a good player, he’s our captain, so I'm very positive and confident that he plays for Crystal Palace.”

Guehi’s current contract with the Eagles is set to expire at the end of the 2025/26 season after joining the club from Chelsea for £18million in 2021.

He has been a vital player for Palace, making 111 appearances for the club in all competitions.

In the 2023/24 season, he made 29 appearances, with the youngster leading the line as captain in many of these matches with club captain Joel Ward often on the bench.

Guehi made his senior England debut in March 2022 and has gone on to make 15 appearances for his country, including all four Euro 2024 matches.

But, he will be absent from England’s upcoming quarterfinal match with Switzerland, as he faces a one game suspension for receiving two yellow cards at the tournament.
