Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has aimed another dig at Rodri following his win over Vinicius Jr at the 2024 Ballon d'Or ceremony.

The 2024 Ballon d'Or ceremony took place on last week, presenting the best football players and coaches in the world with the most prestigious award in the sport.

Ahead of the evening in Paris, Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr was the heavy favourite to win the award but instead it was Manchester City's Rodri that took home the 2024 Ballon d'Or, leading to outrage from Madrid players and manager Ancelotti.

And now, Ancelotti has aimed yet another dig at the Man City midfielder and Ballon d'Or officials over the decision not to give the 2024 award to Vinicius.

Speaking ahead of Real Madrid's upcoming Champions League clash with fellow European giants AC Milan, Ancelotti spoke more about the Ballon d'Or snub and his feelings towards the awards.

“Congrats to who won the Ballon d’Or, but it’s the past. We won our Ballon d’Or on June 1st," claimed the Italian manager.

“Our Ballon d’Or was the Champions League we won in London”.

Ancelotti is of course referring to Madrid's 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final over the summer, leading to them lifting their 15th trophy in the competition.

But fans on social media were quick to criticise Ancelotti, saying that his comments about the Ballon d'Or were both disrespectful to Rodri and hypocritical.

Reacting to the comments, one fan wrote: "Say his name. Disrespectful to Rodri"

Another frustrated fan agree, adding: "Typical Ancelotti, downplaying the Ballon d'Or like it's some participation trophy. Congrats on the Champions League, but maybe let’s not pretend Vinicius got robbed. You don’t need to rewrite history just because your guy didn’t win."

While one pointed out: "Who won the Ballon d’or is in the past but your club winning the champions league is not in the past?"

And another wrote: "Real Madrid is such an entitled club..they're just disrespecting Rodri every day."

After it was reported that Vinicius would not be winning the award as had been expected , all Real Madrid players and staff boycotted the evening, meaning no one was there to accept the other awards that the team won on the night.
