Antoine Griezmann produced a clutch extra time stunner for Atletico Madrid in an incredible Copa del Rey win over Real Madrid.

Just over a week after meeting in the Spanish Cup over in Saudi Arabia, the two sides locked horns again at the Civitas Metropolitan Stadium.

The Riyadh fixture was an eight-goal thriller in Real's favour and this latest game continued in the same vein as Atletico won 4-2 in the round of 16.

Samuel Lino put the hosts 1-0 up before a Jon Oblak own goal on the stroke of half-time levelled matters.

Alvaro Morata made it 2-1 close to the hour mark but Joselu struck in the 82nd minute to take the game all the way to extra time.

But then it was time for Griezmann to do his own thing in the 100th minute. The France international picked up the ball down the right flank and seemingly didn't have many options on.

He displayed outrageous control and balance to leave Vinicius Jr in the dust before coming up with an emphatic finish past Andriy Lunin from a tight angle.

Griezmann wheeled away in celebration, removing his shirt as Atletico fans descended into raptures.

The victory was confirmed in the 119th minute when Rodrigo Riquelme bagged the fourth and secured Atleti's passage to the quarter-finals.

Prior to the game there was a special presentation for Griezmann on the pitch after he became Atletico's record goalscorer.

The former Real Sociedad man achieved the feat in the Super Cup semi-final against Real and has now netted 175 goals for the club across two spells.

He left for Barcelona in 2019 for a fee of £107 million but returned on loan in 2021 before a permanent deal was agreed for just €20 million.

Atleti are back in action on Monday when they travel to Granada.
