An Almeria player has caused an almighty stir after claiming his side "weren't allowed to win" against Real Madrid.

In a shock turn of events, the side sitting bottom of La Liga and without a single win found themselves 2-0 up against the 14-time European champions on Sunday evening.

Largie Ramazani gave the visitors a surprise lead in the first minute before Edgar Gonzalez silenced the Santiago Bernabeu with a stunning left-footed strike just before half-time.

Before the hour mark, Jude Bellingham reduced the deficit with a calm penalty for his 18th goal of the season - though many felt the awarding of the spot-kick was harsh.

Almeria thought they had made it 3-1 not long after but their goal was ruled out for a foul on Bellingham in the build-up.

Minutes later and Vinicius Jr levelled matters, with a VAR review concluding that he did not handle the ball despite images suggesting otherwise.

And then the inevitable happened in the dying embers as Dani Carvajal popped up with a last-gasp winner, stabbing home from a Bellingham knockdown.

Almeria were understandably wounded after giving absolutely everything and Marc Pubill did not hold back in his assessment of the game.

The 20-year-old may well be punished by the football authorities after insinuating corruption.

In a stinging interview, he told DAZN: “I think that someone decided that we weren’t allowed to win here at Bernabéu today, and that’s what happened.

"We leave with the feeling that they have stolen the game from us, that's clear.

"I think nothing more could have been done from the outside to get them into the game. There's no way to understand it. Today goes beyond all limits.

"The linesmen have threatened us, and on top of that, they probably think they did well. It hurts a lot, but La Liga is light years away from the Premier League."

Almeria manager Gaizka Garitano was sent off for his protests on the touchline.

However, he didn't have it in him to continue his complaints in his post-match interviews.

Speaking afterwards, he said: "I have nothing to say. I was rightly sent off because I was protesting a lot.

"You have seen the game and what happened. My opinion? It doesn't matter because then they sanction us for talking, and it's useless. I didn't say anything, but it's true that I protested a lot, logically."

Real return to action on Saturday when they travel to Las Palmas.
