Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal has named the Premier League star he would most like to one day play alongside.

Yamal, 17, enjoyed a stunning Euro 2024 campaign earlier this summer, helping Spain emerge victorious in Germany.

Plying his trade in his homeland with boyhood club Barcelona, the exciting teenager has a wonderful career ahead of him.

But having recently been asked which player he would love to grace the field alongside, his answer may surprise you.

Quizzed by Spanish radio station Radioestadio Noche (via City_Chief), Yamal responded with: ''Kevin De Bruyne.''

Naturally, Manchester City supporters were excited by the prospect of the two stars potentially playing together.

De Bruyne has so many times turned provider for goal machine Erling Haaland during the pair's time at the Etihad Stadium.

And City fans have taken to social media to talk up Yamal's chances of a move to the Premier League in the future.

One fan wrote on X: "KDB and Yamal passes to Haaland. My brother will feast hat-tricks every match."

Another added: "KDB with Yamal, Pedri, Raphinha and Haaland would be a cheat in any club."

"Come to City immediately, Foden will play central and with KDB we are good to go," wrote a third.

While a fourth added: "Bring him to Citeh and send Nunes to them, since they want him."

Yamal is bound by a stunning contract at the Nou Camp that would make it hard for any team to purchase him.

He signed a contract extension in October 2023 that binds him to Barcelona until at least 2026.

That isn't to say he could not be tempted to head elsewhere, but his release clause at present stands at a whopping €1 billion ($1.05bn).

"I see him very calm. He is very measured in the sense that he is digesting everything that is happening to him very well, despite his young age," former Barcelona boss Xavi said in April.

"He is a mature person, he is responsible, he is aware of the situation he is experiencing. He's very humble and he's showing us that he's a differential player.

"He is a player that can mark an era in football, especially at Barcelona. Hopefully we can always enjoy him at this level.

"He's a teenage boy who's growing up. On a mental level, he is a cheerful, joking boy. He's enjoying himself. He's happy."
