Former Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has been filmed chasing a fan following a furious incident in Spain.

A row broke out between Herrera and the supporter following his decision not to return to boyhood club Real Zaragoza this summer. Watch the video below.

Herrera, 34, graduated from Zaragoza's academy in 2009 and went on to play for the first team for two years before joining Athletic Bilbao in 2011.

A £29million move to Manchester United followed in 2014, and he spent five years at Old Trafford – making 189 appearances for the Premier League club.

He later moved to PSG and then back to Bilbao, where his contract was due to expire at the end of the month.

Reports had linked him with a return to boyhood club Zaragoza, a transfer he had previously promised to make.

Speaking in 2015, he told Marca about Zaragoza: "I have the hope of returning to play here."

However, Herrera has instead opted to sign a one-year contract extension with Bilbao.

One angry Zaragoza fan chose to confront the former United player following that decision, while also filming the interaction.

In a clip which has circulated on social media, the fan confronts Herrera while he is sat drinking with his friends, asking him: "What kind of Zaragozista are you?"

Herrera then stands up and approaches the fan, before asking him "what's wrong with you?"

He then chases the supporter away from his friends and down the street in a somewhat bizarre end to the clip.

Herrera's wife, Isabel Collado, later took to Instagram to hit out at Zaragoza for failing to approach her husband over a potential contract.

She posted on Instagram: "A year waiting for a call, a visit, a project, a little affection... You stay where they have shown you."

Herrera finished fifth in La Liga with Bilbao last season, with the club set to compete in the Europa League in the 2024/25 campaign.

In total, he has made 173 appearances for the Basque club, scoring 11 times.
