The secret location that Karim Benzema has gone to 'revealed' - no one has heard of it

Benzema’s World Cup dream was ruined after he suffered an injury in training

Karim Benzema is currently staying in a ‘secret location’ after his World Cup dream was dashed by a training injury on the eve of the tournament.

France boss Didier Deschamps did not call up a replacement for the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner.

Reports from Spain last week suggested that Benzema was recovering faster than expected and could even rejoin the France squad before the conclusion of the World Cup.

However, that now seems extremely unlikely as he has been captured landing at a ‘secret location’ for a ‘week-long holiday’.

According to French news outlet L’Equipe, Benzema was pictured arriving at the Indian Ocean Island of La Reunion and is set to spend a week there before returning to training with Real Madrid.

It has also been claimed that the striker is a ‘long way off’ from being 100 per cent fit and he will not be returning to the training pitch until he is fully recovered.

If Benzema was to miraculously make a full recovery before the World Cup ends, it is possible that Deschamps could call upon the striker as he is still on the list of registered players for the tournament.

However, Deschamps has revealed that he isn’t thinking about Benzema at this moment.

He said: “It’s not something that’s occupying my mind. I don’t know who’s saying what and how. You know the situation and the time that he needs to recover. I spoke with Benzema after he left us, but I don’t know where you’re going with your question.

“I have 24 players here and I’m thinking about them. I will let you speak, debate, and imagine, but I’m not going to comment on things that don’t concern our daily business.”

Defending champions France have made a perfect start to their campaign after recording victories against Australia and Denmark in their opening two games.

They will be looking to extend their 100 per cent record against Tunisia on Wednesday.
