Former Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has found himself a new club after leaving Old Trafford in June.

Turkish Super Lig side Galatasary have announced that they have started transfer negotiations with the 34-year-old in Istanbul.

The club’s offical statement read: “Official negotiations have started with the football club regarding the transfer of professional football player Juan Manuel Mata Garcia to our club.”

Galatasary also posted pictures of Mata arriving into Istanbul on their official Twitter account.

During his time with the Red Devils, Mata made a total of 285 appearances, scoring 51 goals and has 47 assists to his name. He was also part of the squad that lifted United’s last trophy, the Europa League in 2017.

Mata left the Old Trafford in June upon the end of his contract with the club and has been searching for a new club ever since.

The midfielder penned an emotional message directed to United fans.

He wrote: “It has taken me some time to process the change that is happening in my life.

“I would like to say I am the proudest man in the world having represented this unique club for the last eight-and-a-half seasons.

“I couldn't be more grateful with what my career has brought to me, so far, and I am as excited as that little kid about what the future might bring from now on.”

Since he left United, Mata was linked with a host of different clubs including Premier League clubs.

But now it seems that he will continue his illustrious career in Turkey.
