Jack Grealish expected to sign best ever boot deal for a British player

Manchester City star Grealish is expected to leave his current boot manufacturer and become the highest-paid British star.

Manchester City star Jack Grealish is expected to leave his current boot supplier and become the highest paid British footballer for his next deal.

Grealish was unseated in January as the most expensive transfer in British history, when Enzo Fernandez was signed by Chelsea for £107 million.

The City forward still remains the most expensive British player however, and only one of two in the Premier League's history to break the £100 million mark.

That doesn't mean he's the most popular player however, with pundit Simon Jordan recently savaging him for his style of play and calling him an "alice-band wearing charlitain."

He doesn't come across as the kind of player who will be too bothered by criticism of others and he has been praised for his honest and open interviews in the past.

No doubt a weekly wage of upwards of £300k-a-week, according to some reports, will soften the blow of any criticism coming his way, and now he's set to earn even more money.

Footy Headlines claim that Grealish is on the verge of signing a new boot deal which will make him the highest paid British star for what he wears on his feet.

They expect him to sign a deal to move to Puma, having previously been with Nike during his career, although his current boot manufacturer remain in talks.

The report notes that the former Aston Villa captain has removed Nike from his Instagram page, although that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

German brand Puma are said to have been targeting more footballers to add to their roster of sponsored athletes, with Neymar and Antoine Griezmann also on their list.

Footy Headlines also noted the 27-year-old's choice of completely blacked out Nike boots, for the recent loss against Tottenham Hotspur, may be indication he is leaving the Americans.

They also shared footage from the England stars own Instagram story recently, which appeared to show him wearing brand-new Puma Future Ultimate Cage Supercharge boots.

Last month the Telegraph reported that Harry Kane and Gareth Bale were thought to have the richest boot deals amongst British players.

They were said to be on around £4 million-a-year, for Nike and Adidas respectively, and Grealish is now expected to earn more than that.

We can't be sure, but that's probably more than Enzo Fernandez makes for his boot sponsor, so that's 1-1 when it comes to their records...
