Premier League clearly blank out Ivan Toney's name in video of a goal from every club last season

Toney was involved in a beautiful Brentford goal but the commentary on the Premier League's video goes suspiciously quiet.

The Premier League appear to want to scrub Ivan Toney's name from their coverage as the Brentford striker was missed out of a video from the league.

There are few doubts about just how good Toney is as a player, he has proven at every step up in quality that he can match his previous achievements.

It's likely that right now there would be several big clubs interested in signing the Brentford striker this summer, including Chelsea and Manchester United.

However that's not happening thanks to the eight month ban from all football activities that Toney is currently serving for betting on matches.

He cannot play football until next January, although it could have been worse for the England international as he initially faced 15 months out of the game.

It was only reduced thanks to his guilty plea and a diagnosis by a doctor that he had a gambling addiction, which saw him bet on his own team.

The Premier League seem to think that if the player is out of sight then he should be out of mind, after posting a video of great goals from last season.

They included one strike from each team with Brentford's coming from their destruction of United in the second game of the campaign, which saw Erik ten Hag's side drop to bottom of the table.

Bryan Mbeumo slots home the goal and it's set up by Toney but many noticed that the commentary goes silent where it should mention the banned striker.

"What's the reasoning behind muting Ivan Toney's name?", questioned one fan.

"Fancy muting Ivan’s name. Beyond pathetic," added a second.

A third supporter said: "Treating Ivan Toney like a criminal by muting his name but they’ll soon preach about mental health and looking after players."

"They muted Ivan Toney’s name. What very weird thing to do. Bizarre," stated another.

An outrage Brentford follower exclaimed: "The Premier League have actually MUTED mentions of Ivan Toney's name in this clip. WTF?????"

With a sixth replying: "Muting Ivan Toney’s name shows that these governing bodies that are meant to be helping him think he’s just scum. The man has an issue and needs help."

And another commented: "How f**ing petty to include a highlight with Toney in but to mute his name. Incredibly disrespectful by the Premier League."

Others also noted that Toney's goal against Manchester City as he scored twice to defeat Pep Guardiola's team could have been included in the video.

Overall it's not a great look that they are trying to ignore Toney's existence when he'll be back playing in the league in a few months.

SPORTbible have reached out to the Premier League for comment.
