Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara has lifted the lid on a fiery conversation with one Newcastle United player after he criticised his performance in the Champions League.

Newcastle made their return to the Champions League this season, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in their opening fixture thanks to a Marcus Rashford double, and previously played in the competition during the 2023/24 campaign.

O’Hara, who made 93 appearances in the Premier League across his time at clubs such as Spurs, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Portsmouth and Fulham, revealed the story while playing “Prize Matcher Penalties”, a game based on bet365 casino’s free-to-play game, Prize Matcher.

“Newcastle player, been in the Champions League. We dug them out after the game and it wasn’t even that bad,” he said to bet365.

“He asked for my number through somebody I knew and then he phoned me.

“I was like ‘Alright mate, how are you?’ but he went in. He was like ‘No, [that is] bang out of order! No, all the lads are not happy with you. It’s out of order what you’re doing!’.

“I was like mate, what are you going on about? Just don’t let him roll you!”

To which Gabby Agbonlahor, another former Premier League star playing Prize Matcher Penalties, jokingly replied: “Just get tighter to your man!”

As the game continued, O’Hara was also asked to reveal which fanbase from the top-flight he would like to banish from social media after his next penalty prompted a ‘spicy question’.

O’Hara added: “This is an easy one for me. Arsenal fans.

“Get rid of them! They big up their club like they are the best team in the world. They are always moaning and always whinging. Moaning about the referee and how round the ball is.

“They signed a petition not to sign [Noni] Madueke – and he’s been their best player!”
