Who Needs Europe When Britain Has Gareth Bale?

Who Needs Europe When Britain Has Gareth Bale?

There's a Bale-storm blowing across France.

It's not all doom and gloom. The UK has voted to leave the European Union, but the continent's football teams will have a job on their hands forcibly removing home nations sides from Euro 2016.

England, Wales and Northern Ireland have all advanced from the group stages and look in good fettle to continue the march, yet the most admirable achievement from within the British Isles so far goes to the whole of Scotland who continue to live in complete denial there's even a major football tournament happening.

Not far behind them is Gareth Bale, the British superstar who plays for the Welsh bit of the United Kingdom. The Real Madrid forward has scored in all three of his side's games so far to jointly lead the top scorers chart and looks a very nifty 9/2 price with Betsafe to outscore the rest.

For him to be in with much of a chance, Britain's Welsh department will need to venture way beyond the last 16 stage but a quick look at their favourable side of the draw suggests it could be on the cards.

Bale and the boys have been paired up with Great Britain's Northern Irish wing in the first knockout stage, and will be favourites to deposit the Ulstermen. If you fancy Bale to find the back of the net again he's 29/20 anytime against Northern Ireland and another strike would put him in a commanding position to see the job out.

Past that, the winner of Hungary and Belgium lurks and further down the line one from Switzerland, Poland, Croatia and Portugal will be in the semi-finals. With Bale firing and the rest of the Welsh squad on form, Chris Coleman's side are a massive 49/10 to be one of the last four left standing.

If Wales do get that far then Bale is a long 11/1 to be crowned as the tournament best player, which looks better value than favourite Dimitri Payet at 4/1.

Snapping at his heels for top scorer are Real teammates Alvaro Morata and Cristiano Ronaldo, and the Spaniard in particular is a threat given la Roja have won this competition twice on the spin and will take some shifting this time out.

Morata and Ronaldo are also both 9/2 to outscore the rest making it a definitive three-horse race in the eyes of the bookies.

The voters may have opted to leave but there will be no voluntary exit from the Euros by the UK contingent.
