At the beginning of the Champions League campaign Manchester City and Pep Guardiola were embarrassed by Celtic. Tonight they were left a little red faced by one of their own players.
Back in September the match at Celtic Park was the first game that Pep Guardiola failed to win as City boss as the Scottish team earned a well deserved but surprising point in an enthralling 3-3 draw.
Tonight the two sides face off at the Etihad stadium with nothing at stake. City have already qualified for the next round whilst Celtic can't even qualify for the Europa League.

However the SPFL champions have managed to cause their richer opponents a little bit of embarrassment with one of City's own players scoring against them in the form of Patrick Roberts.
The 19 year old joined City from Fulham in 2015 and is highly regarded at the Etihad. He went on loan north of the border for 18 months in January last season.
In the Premier League loan players can't play against their parent club, so not to cause any conflicts of interest, however that rule doesn't apply in the Champions League.

Infamously Fernando Morientes, on loan to Monaco, knocked out parent club Real Madrid in the Champions League in 2004 because of the same rule.
Fortunately for Pep Guardiola he won't damning the previous regime for sending Roberts on loan as they're already through!
