Gabriel Jesus' Stunning Highlights From Arsenal Debut Prove He's Ready To Be The Deadly Striker They Need

Gabriel Jesus' Stunning Highlights From Arsenal Debut Prove He's Ready To Be The Deadly Striker They Need

Jesus scored twice in Arsenal's first pre-season friendly.

Highlights of Gabriel Jesus' Arsenal debut have emerged and fans think he could be the striker they have desperately needed.

The Brazil international sealed a £45 million move to the Emirates Stadium from Manchester City earlier this month and was handed the number nine shirt.

Mikel Arteta's side have been without a clinical forward since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's departure in January and it cost them a place in the top four.

Jesus started Friday's pre-season friendly with Nurnberg on the bench and with the Gunners 2-0 down at half-time, Arteta turned to his big money purchase.

Arsenal would go on to win the game 5-3 and Jesus played a role in four of the goals.

The 25-year-old scored within 90 seconds of being on the pitch to half the deficit after a neat bit of link-up play with Eddie Nketiah.

Mohamed Elneny made it 2-2 with a screamer and Jesus then played a big role in own goals from Christopher Schindler and Tim Handwerker.

He grabbed his second 15 minutes from the end with a close range effort.

It is only pre-season, but it is still a promising performance Arsenal supporters are excited about.

One person commented: "He will be so much better at Arsenal, because of the main role he's given and not only being 'one of many'. Can't wait to see him in the PL."

Another said: "Already levels above what we've had in recent seasons."

A third tweeted: "Seems like he’s as good of a fit for this system as we all hoped. His movement suits us so well!"

While someone put: "Though I've always been a longtime Gabriel Jesus skeptic, I couldn't hide the smile in my face watching this..."

Jesus worked with Arteta during the Spaniard's three-year stint as Pep Guardiola's assistant at City.

It was a crucial factor in his decision to leave the Etihad Stadium after five years.

“We spoke a couple of times about the club, the players, the project and the future," Jesus told Arsenal's official website.

"I believe 100 per cent in Mikel. I had a very good time with him before, he’s a very good guy and a very good coach as well.

“He helped me a lot [at Manchester City]. We would always stick together after the training sessions and do some finishing or something.

"He’s a very intelligent guy and was an amazing player, so if he knows something he can teach me or the young players.”
