Gabby Agbonlahor reveals his transfer value for players from France's World Cup squad, fans in disbelief over 'disrespectful' claim

Gabby Agbonlahor reveals his transfer value for players from France's World Cup squad, fans in disbelief over 'disrespectful' claim

Fans believe that former England striker Gabby Agbonlahor ‘disrespected’ one player from the France World Cup squad with his bold claim.

Former England striker Gabby Agbonlahor has offered his verdict on the transfer value for France players from Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad in Qatar.

France will be hoping to secure back-to-back World Cup titles on Sunday as they take on Copa America holders Argentina at the Lusail Stadium.

Deschamps’ men have lost only one match at the tournament in Qatar after a stunning 1-0 upset by Tunisia in their final Group D clash.

France then went on to sweep Poland aside in a 3-1 win in the World Cup last 16 before beating England in a 2-1 victory in the quarter-finals.

The 2018 World Cup champions punched their ticket to the final with a 2-0 victory over Morocco at the Al-Bayt Stadium in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor offered his thoughts on the transfer value of 10 players from the France World Cup squad ahead of the final against Argentina.

The 36-year-old Aston Villa hero believes Tottenham and France captain Hugo Lloris, who has kept one clean sheet at the World Cup, would be worth around £10m.

Agbonlahor went on to rate Manchester United star Raphael Varane at £30m before slapping a £50m transfer value tag on Barcelona defender Jules Kounde.

The talkSPORT pundit ruffled feathers with his verdict on AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez, who Agbonlahor rated at £40m.

It wasn’t the price tag that ruffled fans on social media, but it was rather Agbonlahor saying that Luke Shaw is a better defender than the 25-year-old France full-back.

“Yeah, maybe, £40m defender, but I still stick by what I said: I feel like Luke Shaw is a better defender,” Agbonlahor said.

One fan responded: “Theo is a top three left-back in the world so literally everything [better than Shaw].”

While another TikTok user commented: “The disrespect on Theo Hernandez there.”

While one fan added: “Theo won the league last year, is [a] top three left-back and Shaw can’t even start for Man [United] half the time over [Tyrell] Malacia.

A fourth said: “How many times you watched Theo?”

Moving on from the defence, Real Madrid starlet Aurelien Tchouameni earned a whopping £80m price tag from Agbonlahor.

Agbonlahor rated Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who was heavily linked with United in the summer, at £30m and Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele at £60m.

For France’s attacking trio, AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud only received a value of £4m to £5m from Agbonlahor due to his age and how long he has left in his career.

Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann, who has been in sensational form for France at the World Cup, was valued at £40m by Agbonlahor.

Finally, Agbonlahor slapped a staggering £250m price tag on Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe, who is tied with Lionel Messi in the race for the World Cup Golden Boot.
