Finding out the old social media pages, accounts and activities of footballers before they were famous is good fun.

People have been able to locate a whole lot of gold from the likes of Harry Kane, Adam Lallana, Jordan Henderson and Gerard Deulofeu that was posted on Bebo back in the day.

But when it comes to Twitter, the past activity of Dele Alli takes the cake.

The Spurs man, who has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season, produced a lot of goodness on social media many years ago - from dodgy selfies, to tweets about being a big fan of the new One Direction song.

As if going through his old tweets with Tubes on Soccer AM wasn't embarrassing enough, Tottenham sat the England international down just before his 21st birthday (which is today) and got him to go through some of the classics he came up with many years ago.

Spurs TV decided to compare a specific accomplishment in the midfielder's career to what he posted on Twitter years earlier and it makes for a great watch.

This guy went from posting videos of him singing "I Wish I Was Punk Rocker" and trying to get a shoutout from BBC Radio 1Xtra because he was sitting in a towel to becoming a Premier League, an England regular and on the verge of hitting 20 goals in a single season.

There's hope for all of us.

Meanwhile, Gareth Bale has heaped praise on Dele Alli and says his current form means he has what it takes to anywhere in the world.

Speaking to the Metro, he said:

"In terms of his ability he could play wherever he wants - he's achieved so much in such a short period of time that he must have great confidence in his ability to affect games at a high level.

"I've loved being a part of a different culture and learning new things. You've just got to be open-minded and be prepared to learn a language and experience the unfamiliar.

"But I also understand why some players are reluctant to move. At the end of the day footballers are people and like a lot of people they want to stay close to their family and friends."
