It should be a rare occurrence that you switch on Jeremy Kyle and spot someone you know on the stage but that was the reality for any football fan this morning seeing former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant.

When you end up on Jeremy Kyle you know things have taken a bit of a bad turn in life, when that has come after you've been a successful footballer then that's quite the fall from grace.

Jermaine Pennant might not have been the greatest footballer to ever walk the earth but the man did play in a Champions League final for Liverpool, in a losing effort against AC Milan.

On Friday morning Pennant, fresh from a recent stint on Celebrity Big Brother, appeared on Jeremy Kyle as his wife decided to air their dirty laundry following his flirting with fellow housemate Chloe Ayling on CBB.

Pennant refused to do a lie detector test on air but did hint that he'd be willing to take one away from the cameras.

It's fair to say fans were equal parts bemused on tickled to see the former footballer on their screens this morning:

Speaking about Jermaine's flirting in the house his wife Alice said, "I was a bit upset. I was sat at home waiting for him to explain himself. I was a bit p****d off because he acted immature in there, there's no doubt about that.

"He acted a bit childish for sure. But like I say nothing physical went on, it got blown out of proportion. I was never going to leave him. He's never cheated on me.

"Jermaine can act immature. It's a game - he played the game, she played the game."

Now if the next episode can just be Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho trying to patch up their relationship that would be great.
