Ajax Attempt To Troll Manchester United Ahead Of Europa League Final

A bit of banter from the two clubs before the big game on Wednesday.

Football clubs love having a bit of interaction on social media with one another, and Ajax and Manchester United are the latest opponents to do so.

The two sides meet at Stockholm's Friends Arena on Wednesday evening, with both vying to win the Europa League and achieve qualification to the Champions League group stage next season.

The Europa League trophy is the only piece of silverware that Manchester United have yet to win in their history as a club, and earlier today Ajax let their upcoming opponents know by tagging them in a Tweet from their official account.

"Hi @ManUtd, we've heard something's missing in your Trophy Cabinet! And we would like to keep it that way!," the Eredivisie side Tweeted.

Clearly United weren't going to sit there without response, and duly informed the four-time European Cup winners that their trophy cabinet was already stacked - but that one more certainly wouldn't hurt.

The little Twitter conversation ended with Ajax telling United that they would see them on Wednesday in what promises to be a cracker of a final.

Ajax's young charges have had nearly two weeks of preparation for the final, as their domestic season ended on 14 May.

As Jose Mourinho has made everyone aware of, United have been plagued by injuries of late and fielded a team largely full of Academy players in Sunday's 2-0 Premier League final day victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Will Ajax's freshness prove decisive or will United have enough about them to do the business?

Let us know your thoughts and predictions for the game in the comments.
