Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Juventus have all opened talks with Antonio Rudiger’s representatives over a pre-contract agreement this month, according to reports.

Rudiger, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season and is now free to speak to foreign clubs over a potential summer move.

The Germany international has played key role for Chelsea this season, featuring in all but one of the club’s Premier League matches.

However, he has stalled on signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge amid reports he could become the highest-paid defender in world football if he leaves on a free this summer.

Sky Sports News claim four of European football’s biggest clubs are set to battle it out for Rudiger’s signature – Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern and Juventus.

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick is also said to be an admirer of Rudiger.

However, unlike the four other clubs, United are not yet able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the German under Premier League rules.

Chelsea remain determined to extend Rudiger’s stay at the club and his camp has not ruled out remaining at Stamford Bridge.

However, the Blues’ most recent contract offer which was made at the start of the season was swiftly rejected by Rudiger’s camp as it would have only paid him half the salary of Chelsea’s top earners, according to the report.

Speaking last month, Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel called for “patience” in the contract negotiations.

“We absolutely accept and are fully aware of the importance of Toni and the role that he’s playing on and off the pitch,” said Tuchel.

“There is no doubt about that. It’s true that nobody is bigger than the club and this is a team effort and a strong club.

“It’s not only about Toni and I mean that in the best way because we know what he’s doing and we’re fully aware of it.

“In the end, we need a bit of patience.”
