Rui Patricio had to be substituted during Wolves game with Liverpool on Monday night, but might have been saved by the offside flag.

All season fans and pundits have become increasingly frustrated by the fact that the offside flag not going up when a player is clearly offside, until right at the last moment.

Due to VAR the decision was taken that play would be allowed to go on with the linesman only raising his flag at the end of the play, letting the video officials decide if they got it right or not.

Many have worried that it would lead to an unnecessary injury if a player got injured when normally the play would have been stopped, and that's what happened late on Monday.

Mohamed Salah was offside as Patricio came off his line, with Conor Coady clashing with his teammate's head, whilst the flag eventually went up as the Egyptian forward put the ball in the back of the net.

It's the second time this season one of Wolves most important players has been hit by a nasty head injury and their fans and Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping it's not as serious as previously.

Raul Jimenez was injured in an incident with David Luiz back in November, and the Mexico striker has been out ever since with a fractured skull.

Monday's game wasn't good for Patricio on the pitch even before his collision with Coady, as he was at fault for the only goal of the game.

Former Wolves striker Diogo Jota shot at the near post in the final minute of the first half and his former teammate could only palm the ball into the back of the net.
