Marcus Danielson was shown a red card in extra time of Sweden's Euro 2020 last 16 game with Ukraine, after a horror challenge on Artem Besyedin.

The two sides were competing for the final quarter final spot on Tuesday night, with the winner due to play England on Saturday, but couldn't be separated in 90 minutes.

Just nine minutes into the added half an hour Danielson was sent for an 'early' bath when he flew in for the ball and caught Besyedin high on his knee, despite getting contact with the ball.

The referee initially showed a yellow card but soon went over to his VAR screen and then changed his mind into a red.

Obviously the still images of these challenges often make them look worse but the fact it was so high and he had little control meant that winning the ball first was neither here nor there.

The red card meant Sweden had to play out the final 21 minutes of extra time with 10 men and it was nearly nine when Newcastle United's Emil Krafth went down shortly after.

Krafth had a head injury but was cleared to continue, there are no concussion substitutes in the Euros, which were added towards the end of the Premier League season.

Long before Danielson's sending off Manchester City's Oleksandr Zinchenko had put Ukraine ahead after just 27 minutes.

The left wing back connected perfectly with a cross to hit it back across goal and beyond Robert Olsen.

Emil Forsberg equalised in the 43rd minute to take his tally in the tournament to four goals, with only Cristiano Ronaldo having scored more, before hitting the post later on.

In injury time in extra time, Zinchenko crossed to find Artem Dovbyk who headed home a dramatic winner!
