Reading forward Nelson Oliveira ended the club's Championship 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday with an awful looking injury after an accidental stamp by Tyrone Mings.

Nelson Oliveira might only be on loan from Norwich to Reading but the Portuguese forward certainly proved he's up for the cause at his temporary home when he suffered a really bad injury on Saturday against Aston Villa.

The 27 year old only moved from the Championship leaders to the Royals on loan till the end of the season towards the end of January's transfer window.

He made his debut last week and scored as the relegation battlers drew 1-1 with fellow strugglers Bolton Wanderers.

This week he's in the headlines for a far worse reason. During the team's 0-0 draw with Aston Villa at the Madejski Stadium he was stamped on by Villa defender Tyrone Mings.

The 27 year old was treated on the pitch initially but had to be taken to hospital due to the severity of his injuries, although he stayed conscious throughout.

Mings didn't receive punishment for the incident and the referee clearly believed it was an accident as the on loan Bournemouth defender, who was making his debut, stumbled over the fallen Oliviera before making contact.

The 25 year old took to Twitter to apologise:

In 2017 Mings was banned for five games following a stamping incident against Manchester United. Playing for Bournemouth he had an ongoing battle with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, culminating in the stamp when the striker had tripped over another player.

Hopefully Oliveira has a speedy recovery.
