talkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has told the station how he believes that Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku will score more goals than Manchester United's new signing Cristiano Ronaldo this season.

Bent, a former England international who played for the likes of Tottenham and Aston Villa, told listeners that he thinks Manchester United's depth in the final third means the goals will be shared at Old Trafford this season, whereas the majority of them at Stamford Bridge will come from Romelu Lukaku.

"I'm going to say, this season, Lukaku," Bent answered when asked who he thinks will hit the back of the net more often. "When you look at Chelsea and the goals that they get, I think a lot of them are going to come through Lukaku.

We know how good Ronaldo is, but Mason Greenwood is going to chip in with goals, Fernandes is and Rashford when he comes back, Cavani. Some of them might not even play. Lukaku, if he's fit, he's playing."

Both Lukaku and Ronaldo are starting their second spells at the English clubs where they first made their names. The former returned to West London for a club-record fee of £97.5 million whilst the latter has recently re-signed for The Red Devils after 12 years away with Real Madrid and Juventus respectively.

And whilst there is much hype surrounding the Portuguese superstar's transfer back to the Premier League, Bent is convinced that Lukaku will play more games than Ronaldo this season and therefore score more goals.

"Potentially (Ronaldo might not start every game) because they are going to have a lot of games," the 37 year old continued. "Look at Lukaku- Chelsea bought him for a purpose, in terms of he has to play. That for me was the missing piece of the jigsaw, that centre forward.

Listen, I know Ronaldo will get his goals- I've no doubt about that- but I think Lukaku. He's 1-0 up anyway!"

As Bent says, Lukaku is already off the mark for The Blues, having netted on his second debut against Arsenal a few weeks ago. Meanwhile Ronaldo is expected to make his long-awaited return in red on Saturday, when Ole Gunnar Solskjær welcomes Steve Bruce and Newcastle United to Old Trafford.
