A European giant has opened talks with Sporting CP for the signing of Viktor Gyokeres following the Swedish striker's incredible form since making the move to Portugal.

Gyokeres made the switch from Coventry in the summer of 2023 and has become one of Europe's most feared strikers with 63 goals in 66 appearances.

The Swede has previously played for Swansea and Brighton, but really made his name with Coventry and was highly tipped for a move back to the Premier League before signing for Sporting.

The 26-year-old had been open to leaving over the summer, however, he was convinced to stay and build on the project with Ruben Amorim.

With Amorim's exit to Manchester United now confirmed, the Sporting star reportedly confronted his manager over his decision to leave mid-season given the commitment he made over the summer.

Gyokores is now expected to leave the club next summer, and one Champions League side has already enquired over a potential swap deal.

According to El Nacional via A BOLA, Deco is desperate to get Gyokeres to Barcelona and is willing to use Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque in order to lower Sporting's asking price.

The report states there is a 100 million euro release clause in the Swedish international's contract, however, given the financial issues at the Nou Camp they wouldn't be able to fund such a fee.

Roque was tipped to be Brazil's next big superstar but has failed to live up to expectations since making the 60 million euro switch from Athletico Paranaense.

Deco believes Gyokeres is the 'ideal replacement' for Robert Lewandowski and believes he can make the fee as little as €40 million if Roque is included.

Roque has been sent out on loan to Real Betis over the summer and has scored twice in nine appearances to date.
