Ryan Reynolds had zero doubts when naming his Wrexham Mount Rushmore and says it's 'not fair' one player misses out

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have owned Wrexham since 2021.

Ryan Reynolds has named his Wrexham Mount Rushmore and has stated that it's not fair that one player missed out.

Back in 2021, Hollywood stars Reynolds and Rob McElhenney completed a takeover of Wrexham for around £2 million.

Since then, the Red Dragons have managed to work their way up the English football pyramid.

After successfully securing three promotions in a row, Wrexham will now prepare for life in the Championship.

Speaking recently, Reynolds was asked to pick out his Wrexham Mount Rushmore.

He said to Men In Blazers: "Phil Parkinson, Rob McElhenney, who does so much more than people realise.

"Paul Mullin and Shaun Harvey. Shaun really, from the jump, was very good about protecting us from ourselves, which you need sometimes, and really giving us as much information… the dumber the question, it just didn’t bother him. He was very, very patient."

Reynolds then mentioned Luke Young, who now plays for Cheltenham Town.

He added: "Those are my four, but four is not fair. Luke Young, that guy has the heart of a lion and his leadership… his leadership by example, not by words, is what I found to be beautiful."

Ever since the arrival of Reynolds and McElhenney, Wrexham have spent big in a bid to move up the leagues.

However, manager Phil Parkinson has recently hit back at critism about the club's spending.

He said to The Leader: "People speculate about what we have paid for players and a lot of it is so overinflated that it is almost laughable at times. Going back a couple of years when people used to quote what we were paying people, quite often it was way off the mark.

“We've operated in a structured way and we think carefully about the players we bring in, in terms of the value for the season coming up and value going forward as assets in the squad. We weigh-up every player carefully and have kept to a structure in terms of the wages as much as we possibly can.”
