Real Madrid are set to lose one of their major titles ahead of a forgotten FIFA tournament.
Spanish La Liga giants Madrid won the 23/24 UEFA Champions League by beating German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium, London.
Thanks to goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr, Los Blancos came away 2-0 winners.
As a result of winning the Champions League, Madrid qualified for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

The Intercontinental Cup is contested by the champions of the top club competitions of the six confederations - AFC Champions League Elite, CAF Champions League, CONCACAF Cup, Copa Libertadores, OFC Professional League and the UEFA Champions League.
In December 2024, the first edition of the Intercontinental Cup took place in Qatar, with Madrid beating Mexican side Pachuca 3-0 in the final.
However, this year, Madrid are not in the competition after they failed to win the Champions League during the 24/25 campaign. Therefore, they will no longer be the holders of the competitions by the end of Wednesday night.
Instead, French giants Paris Saint Germain will be hoping to win the trophy, and they will take on Brazilian club Flamengo in the final, taking place at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar.

What has Luis Enrique said about the FIFA Intercontinental Cup?
Speaking ahead of the final, PSG boss Luis Enrique said: "Make history with Paris, that was our aim last season. Keep making history is now the goal of this season.
"We’ll have to be ready and switched on all game. Each action could be important and decisive. We are ready. This season, I think the team has shown the same attitude as they already had last season."
He added: "I think this final is a great opportunity. We’re aware of the importance of the game, of the good fortune we have to be playing in the Intercontinental Cup final. It’s important as a team and as a club to have the chance to play in this game.
"What we have shown over the last four months is our ability to overcome different situations. It’ll be a close game. Flamengo are a very good side, so it’ll be a difficult match."
