Paul Pogba once destroyed Graeme Souness after he called him a 'YouTube' footballer in a brutal putdown.

Pogba signed a two-year deal with AS Monaco after he served his suspension for a doping ban.

He received a four-year ban which was later cut to 10 months following an appeal.

Pogba was suspended by Italy's national anti-doping tribunal after a drugs test found elevated levels of testosterone - a hormone that increases endurance - in his system.

He's nearing a return to the pitch after serving his suspension, having joined Monaco - with the French media making their feelings known about his upcoming return.

Monaco face Cercle Brugge on Friday as they begin their pre-season preparations ahead of the new season.

But he isn't expected to make his Monaco debut. However, his comeback is imminent.

Pogba will have plenty of eyeballs on him when he does eventually appear for Monaco.

Souness could be one of his critics, having previously feuded with the star midfielder when he was plying his trade in the Premier League with Manchester United.

When he was a Sky Sports pundit, the Scot didn't hold back in his criticism of Pogba, labelling him 'a bit of a YouTuber' and 'an absolute doddle to play against'.

The 32-year-old Frenchman responded by claiming he didn't know who Souness was.

"I didn’t even know who he was, really," he told the United podcast. "I heard he was a great player and stuff like that. I know the face but [not] the name. Like I said I’m not someone that watches a lot of [punditry], I watch a lot of football but I don’t stay after the game to listen to what they say about why they did this or why they did that. I like to focus on football."

Naturally, Souness hit back as he told Pogba to 'put your medals on the table'.

"I’m happy with that," he said. "The oldest saying in football comes to mind: 'Put your medals on the table'. I’ve got a big table.”

Souness won five league titles and three European cups during his trophy-laden spell at Liverpool.

Pogba's medal haul isn't as extensive compared to Souness, but the Frenchman is a World Cup winner and scored in the 2018 final against Croatia. A trophy the 72-year-old did not win.

Does Graeme Souness really 'hate' Paul Pogba?

Patrice Evra asked Souness if he 'hated' Pogba to which the Liverpool legend replied by claiming he doesn't.

"I had a good talk with Graeme Souness about Paul Pogba, and I asked him why he hated Pogba, but he told me that he didn’t," Evra said on The Overlap - brought to you by Sky Bet.

"He found Pogba more frustrating, especially with his talent and quality. And that’s what I say to Paul. 'Stop thinking people hate you. It’s because you frustrate them. You are an animal. When you run box to box, nobody can stop you'."
